Gorgeous music for your event. . . enhance your special day with beautiful harp music by one of Chicago's most requested harpists,
Courtney Lawhn - an accomplished harpist for your Chicago wedding or special event.

Your wedding day. . . one of the most
important days of your life. To honor
this, you plan to make every element
of it as special and memorable as
possible.
With its classic beauty in both sight
and sound, the harp is the perfect
instrument to provide music for such
a joyous occasion.
As a Chicago wedding musician, I have found that the
harp makes even the most elegant weddings that
much more elegant. The wedding package includes an
optional free consultation, a standard harp cartage
fee, and gorgeous harp music for every part of the
ceremony needed. This includes a 20-minute prelude
as guests are being seated beforehand and a
20-minute postlude after the wedding ceremony.
Typical places for music in the ceremony are the
20-minute prelude, the wedding party's processional,
the bride's processional, the interlude (if applicable), the
recessional, and the 20-minute postlude. Some clients
opt to choose the pieces or songs performed; others
prefer to simply choose a genre (Classical, Jazz, Pop,
etc.) and leave the rest to my discretion.
Music will play a vital role in your wedding, particularly
during the ceremony. For ideas, click on
wedding
music planning and read my article, "Planning the
Music for Your Wedding Ceremony." Presented in a
clear and simple way, this article will get you started on
picking out wedding ceremony music and adding the
perfect ambiance to your special day.
The ceremony package price is not based on length of
time playing, but is rather a flat rate for the entire
ceremony, whatever the length. Every wedding is
unique, so I work with my clients to create a custom
collection of music that fits their needs.
In addition to the wedding ceremony, another popular
use of the harp is at the cocktail hour, normally the first
hour of the reception before dinner. The ceremony +
cocktails package includes everything in the custom
ceremony package as well as one hour of background
music at the reception site.

The harp generally plays alone, like a piano, and does
not require accompaniment; however, as a Chicago
harpist, I also regularly play with other professional
Chicago wedding musicians who play instruments such
as flute, violin, cello, or bass. These instruments, while
not necessary, can add a different and distinctive
touch.
Below are a few example wedding ceremonies with
popular combinations of songs and pieces. These
wedding music samples are actual combinations
that have been used effectively in ceremonies I
have played for as a Chicago wedding musician,
though your choices are by no means limited to
these! A larger repertoire list is available if you click
on
repertoire. I also happily accept special requests
if made at least a month in advance of the
ceremony date. Some special requests may incur
an extra charge.  Be sure to check out
wedding
music planning to get an idea of your basic needs.
